aaved Jaafery credits the ‘matured’ film audience in India for the purple patch in his career
Jaaved Jaafery has certainly hit the purple patch of his film career. He credits the maturing industry and audience preferences responsible for pitch-forking him into the spotlight over the last three years.
Jaaved’s latest release was the animation film Roadside Romeo, where he dubbed for the villain character Charlie Anna. It was an average grosser. He had previously dubbed for the Hindi version of another animated film The Incredibles which also had the voice of Shah Rukh Khan in it. “The last few years have been great for me and that’s because the industry has changed. You can now think of making a film with Cyrus Broacha in the lead. People want quality cinema and yes though stars will always be stars they will have to be a part of good films which also has good cast,” he says. We quizzed the actor on why despite showing promise many times on screen, he always shied away from films until recently. “I haven’t shown my back at Bollywood. It’s just that I did not get good offers. Now that the going is good for good for actors, I’m getting many more roles and scope to do many more things,” he says. We asked him whether comedy is his favourite genre. “I like comedies but it is not just comedies that I have done. I loved the film The Forest and even in Shaurya where I was a part of a very serious film and played a very serious role. But yes, I’m getting many film offers which are comedies and I’m doing them because I’m ‘liking’ doing it,” he says in its unimitable comic style. Source: Daily News & Analyiss
